Re - Diablo II Mods on Mac Hi, Renaming the d2patch.mpq file to 'Diablo II Patch (Carbon)' is definitely the right way to do it. Double check you did the renaming right. What mod are you trying to install anyway - some mods have not been designed to work on a Mac, and most mods are designed for a specific patch of the game. Some mods only run with 1.10, not 1.11b. You'll have to check your game patch level and make sure it is compatible with the mod.
FYI, if you do the full install of Diablo II + LoD, using the native Mac OS X installer, you get version 1.10. Hope this helps in some way. Install Diablo 2 Without Cd
When.I. put the patchD2.mpq into the Diablo 2 directory & rename it to 'Diablo II Patch (Carbon)', the game does actually launch just fine.
However, I don't see anything special about it - i.e. I have no idea if the mod does anything! The game runs, no problem with creating a character & playing. The mod also has a few DLLs, which will not work on Mac at all. Hence you can't really use all features of this mod (in single player), as it is designed for Windows version (this is probably why I don't see anything different in the mod). It should still work in multiplayer if you join a game where the Host runs Windows. I've no idea why it doesn't work on yours though.

FYI, here's my set-up: 'Carbonised' Diablo II + LoD install - used the native OS X installer. Game installed at patch level 1.10.

Then I'd put the.mpq file in Diablo II directory & rename it to Diablo II Patch (Carbon), and the game runs fine. Prior to trying out this mod, I've played the Ultimate Fixer mod, Eastern Sun mod, and Median 2008 mod. All worked fine. A friend of mine had his game crash at character creation screen - but that was caused by him renaming the file incorrectly If you have an Intel Mac, you can boot up XP & run that, see if that works.
How To Download Diablo 2
That said, I do not do this myself and would only do this as a last resort. Is my understanding correct that the normal game actually works fine, but the modded game fails to run at all, in your case? As you state, the game complains that it can't open the file. At what point does it fail? Can you give the output of an 'ls -l' in the Diablo II directory? (If you are comfortable using Terminal, let me know if not).
.isn't working, darn it. Neither on my 2.8 GHz iMac nor my 2.2 GHz Macbook. Every time I try to install it, enter the serial number, and then follow the instructions to insert the Install CD, it immediately ejects the CD after mounting it for about 1 second and then repeats the message to insert the Install CD. I actually have two separate copies of the game, and both exhibit this behavior in Leopard, pretty much eliminating a faulty CD issue. I've installed these on the Bootcamp partitions with no issues, by the way, but I'd rather play the game from within Leopard.
How To Install Diablo 2 Lord Of Destruction
Has anyone successfully installed Diablo II using the OS X native installer patch/app? Message was edited by: Lance Crumbliss 2.8 GHz Aluminum iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.1), 750 GB HD, 2 GB RAM Posted on Dec 16, 2007 9:52 AM. I have also had issues with the OS X Native Installer on a 2.2GHz MacBook with Leopard. The install starts, but either bails out on the first disk, or the second disk. I've no clue what the issue as, as most people seem to have no issues. My disks are very clean, so I don't think it's a media issue, and the disks installed fine on Tiger. In your case, it might be worth a try to get an ISO of the disks and work off of that, since they seem to think the CD has an issue.

So I am at a loss. I installed Diablo 2 and PlugY using incredibly helpful post by (Thanks!). But now I want to install. So I moved all the files over and everything but the problem is that it requires me to put '-direct -txt' at the end of the path to my executable (which I assume should be the PlugY executable). But I can't seem to do that with a Mac.
I finally thought I had it when I opened the PlugY.ini and saw this line LAUNCHING Param= I had hoped that just putting it at the end of that would do it, but it doesn't seem to have worked. Any help would be appreciated. Edit: formatting.
